About eveline tainio

I have always been drawn to creating something beautiful and memorable—first on the ice, now on screen and stage. Born and raised in Helsinki, Finland, I spent years mastering precision, discipline, and performance as a synchronized skater on the Finnish national team, competing all over the world.
Skating wasn’t just a sport—it was storytelling through movement, emotion, and total commitment, skills that now define my work as an actor. Performing under pressure, embodying emotion physically, and connecting with an audience without words gave me an intuitive grasp of presence, timing, and discipline.
Now based in New York City, I trained at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and have built a career spanning film, television, and theater.

Lead Role in Metsänpeitto
I’m happy to announce my casting in the lead role of the upcoming Finnish short film Metsänpeitto.
This horror short film inspired by Finnish folklore follows two friends on a summer hiking trip that takes a chilling turn, as the forest begins to distort their sense of reality, blurring the line between truth and perception.
Written and directed by the talented Onni Saaristo, Metsänpeitto explores the fear of losing control, set against the moody backdrop of the Finnish wilderness.
Filming begins this July in Finland.

Supporting Role in Won’t Be Displaced
I’m proud to share that I played a supporting role in the short film Won’t Be Displaced, which explores the experiences of LGBTQIA+ refugees seeking asylum in the UK.
Written and produced by the talented Piera Van de Wiel, the film was highlighted at the Cannes Film Festival during the "Authentic Stories: Diversity & Inclusion in Film & Television" panel, hosted by Stage 32.
Filming took place at the end of January, and I’m honored to have been part of a project that gives voice to such urgent, underrepresented stories.

Performance in The Suppliant Maidens at New York Theater Festival
I'm delighted to share that I recently performed in The Suppliant Maidens, an adaptation of Aeschylus' classic, presented at the New York Theater Festival 2024. Directed by the talented Italian director and actor Lucia Sapienza, this production was brought to life by Thymos Productions, a company dedicated to showcasing international talent in NYC.
For more details about the production and Thymos Productions, visit their official website: Thymos Production.

Though I call NYC home, Finland is still in my bones—I love cold plunges, sauna, and escaping to my quiet cottage in nature, a place I'm always missing.
I'm fluent in Finnish and English, with a strong command of RP British, Scandinavian, and other European accents. With training in stage combat, singing, and dance, I bring a high level of physicality to my roles— whether it’s fight choreography, singing a melody, or commanding the stage with movement.

When I'm not on set or prepping for my next role, I'm sharpening my craft, exploring new creative projects, or traveling—38 countries and counting, with Costa Rica next on my list.
You’ll probably also find me wandering NYC with a matcha in hand—because why take the subway when you can explore? With experience in both Scandinavian and U.S. productions, I am passionate about working in international cinema and portraying complex, multidimensional female characters that leave a lasting impact long after the credits roll.
